One issue in particular, they designated an area for grilling , Yes you are not allowed to gill any ware on this property except in the back near the road and entrance.. You have to carry your supply's and food , grill it, and carry back to your desired eating spot, . Everyone , thought it to be a ridiculous rule . So i confronted the couple and complained to them, I said "we are responsible adults , we can safely manage grilling. Before i had a chance to finish the lady owner started yelling at me jumping a waving her arms and told me i have a bad attitude and if you like our rules don't come back..
Wow!! imagine that , accidentally you drop a sunflower seed , or a peel and forget to pick it up , . you want to play music load , or stay up late , or just want privacy with just your family and friends ..
We booked last minute for a couple nights when our other plans changed. So glad someone recommended Sparkling Sands instead of the hotel we booked. We loved the cottage and all of the little details. They make sure your summer getaway details are all covered! We'll be back for a longer stay next time!
Now if you think that was bad , later they announced that they are moving on site to live .
AMAZING!! It was exactly what my family of 3 was looking for. Relaxing, tranquil, and a great home atmosphere. All 5 of the cottages have a view of the lake, and by view I mean 50 feet of the lake.
BEACH: Before you get the beach there are swings, volley ball net, and comfy lounge chairs on a nice sandy area. Then 20 feet further is the beach. Clean areas and no traffic because it is private.
My whole family have been going to this resort for over five years. We loved it , until this summer. Turns out the nice old owners retired, and sold to this younger couple. The new owners are crazed over zealous , micro management type , they run the resort like a Juvenal detention camp .
Some friends and I have now been up there twice and have had a FABULOUS time both times. The owners were MORE than accommodating to our every need. We had bonfires every night, we grilled at the provided bar-b-ques, enjoyed the cards and games we borrowed from their game room and spent endless hours on the beach, watching the sunrise AND the full moon shining over our bonfire late at night. We brought our own horseshoes and corn hole game and laughed and laughed in the sunshine. We are definitely going to come back as soon as we can work it out.
If you are looking to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city and get to where the view is great and its quiet, I couldn't recommend a better place. I will be coming here with family for years to come. Everything is where you need it. As well, its only a 5 minute drive into Oscoda for any supplies.There is a grilling area, a room with extra kids toys, and the owners live 7 minutes away, so if there is an issue they can get there super quick. I would recommend this place to anyone.
COTTAGE: I had rented a 2 bedroom cottage that can house 6 (2 in each room, and 2 on a pull out sleeper in the living room). It was clean as all can get out. It had a full kitchen (with plates, glasses, cooking utensils, and cutlery), full bath, living room, CABLE, WIFI, and a front sunroom with another kitchen table and swing chair. Lots of windows, easy to use heater, and that rustic charm you look for when going on vacation.
Nice clean cabins with good access to the beach. Wifi worked good. BBQ area not the most convenient thing, would be nice to grill near picnic area by cabin.
I was shocked, walked away and exclaimed, i would never come here any way..
