La Mer Douce was a complete disappointment. The cabins we rented were filthy. There were stains on the furniture and floors, paint on the bed sheets (they appeared to have been used as painting tarps, one bathroom smelled like sewage, the shower head fell off when the water was turned on, used soap left in the shower, dishes were put away dirty, food left in the fridge, a dirty, torn U.S. flag hanging on the wall as a decoration. We were unable to use the beach because there was muck from the shore to about 20 feet out. The owners were not there so the only person we could talk to was unable to help in anyway. In addition we were asked to pay cash upon arrival so we had no recourse to get anything fixed. I have e-mailed the owner, the visitors center of Oscoda who informed me they contacted the owner and I have yet to hear from them.
I would not recommend La Mer Douce to anyone. It was filthy and a complete disappointment. We toyed with the idea of leaving; however we had driven quite a distance for a family weekend and there was not any other place available to stay. Our total cost for two cabins was $660...complete waste of money! DO NOT stay here.
Great beach.. cabins are very clean and cozy.. kids had a great time. Many exciting things to see and do in the nearby area. The owners Nancy and Bob are very nice.
Love love love this place Nancy and Bob the owners treat their guests as if they are their own family. Great place to go for couples or people with children I would definitely recommend to my family and friends!
muck covered the beach and lake bottom. there is swamp land between lake and cabin. flies inside and out, some bite. grounds surrounding cabin not well kept. furniture was dirty. did not encounter one other family during our stay. the last night of our stay the resort sign said 'no vacancy' yet we were the only ones there. resort is for sale. I have been to other similarly priced resorts in Oscoda and I would not recommend this one.
