More lousy service in Oscoda, stood at the "Please wait to be Seated" sign for about 10 minutes before I was acknowledged by the hostess, from across the room she, as she continued walking said I'll be with you in a couple of minutes, as two large groups of people turned around and left. Five minutes later I was seated. The hostess asked for my drink order and quickly brought me a half glass of tepid tap water with no ice. Before she ran off I asked for an omelet and she replied you have to wait for the waitstaff. So another 10 minutes later the waitress stops and takes my order. Another 10 minutes another staff slaps my omelet on the table and disappears. Waitress slows down one time while I'm eating and asks, in passing, about the food, passes by another five minutes later and backhands the bill on the table while she was taking another order. The older gentleman running the cash register took my bill of $10.07 I gave him $10.12, he hands me 3 cents back, not worth the argument! Oh I added the pepper on the omelet!
For many years it's been tradition for us to go here every time we go to Oscoda. The diner is good and has great breakfasts but the bakery is out of this world! Especially their strudel and donuts. I love their strawberry rhubarb pie when it's available.
Staff was very friendly but the donuts were awful. We we're visiting from out of town and wanted fresh homemade donuts, something other then what you get at the grocery store. They looked great but tasted horrible, my 4 year old wouldn't finish it. We should have turned away when I seen nats flying around the fruit pastries in the display case.
Great, hardy, breakfast choices with nicely sized portions served by a staff that is quick and pleasant. The bakery offers a great selection of very, very, tasty treats.
Good food, good service. While checking out you must get something from their fresh bakery!!
